The annual Best Aussie Vans (BAV) awards competition held by the caravan industry’s #1 magazine, Caravan World, presents the holy grail for caravan manufacturers. This year, the Z-20.6 Off-Road model was nominated within the top $100K + category, making ZONE RV the youngest company invited to compete.

The competition, hosted at Wye River and Apollo Bay on the Great Ocean Road, VIC, from 10-14 October 2016, put the country’s favourite caravans, ranging in price from $50K  – $100K+ to the test. The ZONE RV team endured an extensive judging process over three days against the following score sheet criteria:

  1. Value for money
  2. Self-sufficiency
  3. Setting up and hitching up
  4. Suitability for intended touring
  5. Layout
  6. Quality of finish
  7. Build quality
  8. Creature comforts
  9. Innovation
  10. X factor.

“If there’s one thing our BAV judges like to see it’s a caravan that stands apart from the crowd, challenges the status quo and looks towards the future instead of the past for inspiration. The Zone RV Z-20.6 Off-Road was that van at 2016 Best Aussie Vans” Laura Gray, Caravan World Senior Editor & BAV Judge.

“Zone RV has clearly invested a considerable amount of time and money in its quality assurance and caravan construction process, which shows up very well in the end product” – Malcolm Street,Caravan World BAV Judge.

“What might seem ‘simple’ at the outset is actually streamlined, complex and carefully constructed for all kinds of technical reasons and a ‘less is more’ approach” Laura Gray, Caravan World Senior Editor & BAV Judge

“While many caravan manufacturers are adopting elements of new technology to build their vans, none appears to have done as much as Queensland Zone RV to incorporate high-tech design and manufacturing processes into the build of their vans” – Phil Lord, Caravan World BAV Judge.

“It also incorporates incredibly smart, forward-thinking features” – Phil Lord,Caravan World BAV Judge.

The results of the competition will be released in the January 2017 edition of Caravan World. How do you think we went?
